I own a Carrera which I really like.  However, a recent experience has soured my appreciation of Tag as a brand.

I have the a problem with the crown catching my jean pockets and breaking off.  It happened once before and recently happened again.  I sent the watch in for repair and was given the option to just repair the crown for $50 or do a complete overhaul for $400.

It is not due for an overhaul yet so I requested to just repair the crown.  Later they call back and said they would only repair the crown if they perform an overhaul as well!

To top it all off I call the service center and the "customer service" person was borderline rude to me!  I told him I had other watch brands and that has not been my experience. He just said: "Well we are Tag and it would be fine not to have you as a customer"!  Definitely not what I would expect from a luxury watch company.

I think that we can recognize this as a scam to wrangle money out of me from a perfectly functioning watch.

And finally my question.  Would it be possible to just have the crown repaired outside of Tag?

Thanks,
