The young French driver of the Newman-Haas Racing team and TAG Heuer ambassador, Sebastien Bourdais, won the last race of the ChampCar season in Mexico last Sunday.
His 7th victory of the season, together with 8 pole positions (out of 14 races) made him the new World Champion of the ChampCar World Series 2004, the 1st time ever title in a US racing serie for a French driver.
Sebastien won both on oval and Road / street courses and he finished the championship with 369 points (a new record), 28 points ahead of his team mate Bruno Junqueira, the Brazilian driver. With such an impressive season, he’s joining the greatest winners of ChampCar, such as Emerson Fittipaldi, Nigel Mansell, Jacques Villeneuve or Juan Pablo Montoya.
TAG Heuer is very proud to be associated with Sebastien since 2002, before he won the F3000 International Championship title, and would like to congratulate him for this amazing season where he demonstrated the world what he is made of.
To celebrate this title, Sebastien will participate in the Race of Champions in Paris on December 4th, an event where TAG Heuer will be the official timekeeper and will bring the timing to 1/10’000 technology for the 1st time ever. Sebastien will race against the top drivers of the 2004 World of Racing, such as Michael Schumacher, F1 World Champion, Sébastien Loeb, World Rally Champion, or David Coulthard, McLaren driver and TAG Heuer ambassador.
Sebastien is perfectly illustrating the values of TAG Heuer, prestige and performance. Even during the race, he never leaves his TAG Heuer Kirium F1 or his Carrera tachymeter. He’s also one of the very rare driver racing with optical glasses under his helmet, from the prestigious collection of TAG Heuer Sportvision.
