I have an almost 6 year old Professional model basic TH watch received as a 25th anniversary present from my employer.  It's been a great product, I don't think I have ever even replaced the battery.  No scratches on the crystal with every day use.  Just recently the seconds hand started moving every 4-5 seconds rather than each second.  The watch still keeps accurate time, but I am wondering what type of problem this is an alert to.  Unfortunately there is no dealer close to my home town, so I don't know who to even ask but spotted this forum on the internet. Huh

I believe the erratically moving second hand is a built in signal to tell you to replace the battery.

CORRECT!  The watch battery died a few days later. Since this was an employer gift I never got a manual with the watch so was not sure what was going on, but if this happens the battery is about ready to quit.  It went almost SIX YEARS, pretty amazing efficiency.
